PROs:
✅ “Novice Protection activated”—interesting assist concept.
✅ Interesting/odd/fever-dream asset and level designs.
❓ Odd mini side-scroller adventure inside an in-game computer.
CONs:
❌ Per usual, horribly translated Chinese game.
❌ Odd missing assets in the first level.
❌ Achievements not translated.
❌ Extremely GPU-heavy.
❌ Misleading first stage (tiny fanservice + puzzles turns into heavy platformer, or more like CS kz_ “climbing” maps).
❌ No pausing during interactions (books for lore, etc.).
❌ Underwater section is a navigation nightmare with abyssal platforming.
❌ Unnecessary jumpscares.
❌ Final puzzle is an absolutely, confusing nightmare.
❌ Final boss body/skin assets disappear.
❌ No menu confirmation messages (wanted to click “settings,” misclicked “restart level”—had to replay the whole thing).
❌ Game folder oddities.
Comments:
First things first: Why is the game folder called “GodOfWar,” and why does the movies folder have random TikTok videos?
Let’s get the good stuff out of the way—there’s very little. I liked the interesting asset choices in map designs; half the levels felt like a fever dream mixed with good old Counter-Strike 1.6 kz_ “climbing” maps.
The assist system is a neat concept, but it should be toggleable. Get stuck? Don’t worry. Game will give you over time more and more hints, visuals ques and eventually answers and skips. Basically useful feature if you are dumb with puzzles as I am. The climbing maps even had “wheelchair elevators” to skip sections (behind timers, FYI).
Now the bad—short version’s in the cons. Like many random indie slops, it’s way too bizarre where nothing makes sense. Simple story concept, but lore’s impossible to follow (horrible translation didn’t help with it). To be honest though, noone plays this game for the story. Tons of bad technical/design choices: missing assets, horrid translations. And for some reason it eats crazy amount of GPU power.
Moral of the story: That intro bath scene and skimpy spider lady aren’t worth it. Unless, like me, you like occasionally to try bizarre indie game slops or make youtube videos, then give it a try. For a “good experience,” hard pass. I got a few chuckles from 5 hours of annoyance, persistence, and frustration.
