Game “review” – Evoland Legendary Edition

NOTE: Since games consists of 2 games, I’ll add my thoughts of them separate.

Evoland 1:

PROs:

✅ Charming little game
✅ Unique and fun mechanics
✅ Sense of humor

CONs:

❌ Hard to keep track on what to do
❌ Final boss a bit iffy

Comments:

Fairly short and unique “showcase” type of game. Most lovable part was the rewards being unlocking and upgrading game mechanics, graphics etc… with some silly sense of humor making it cute and enjoyable little adventure. Progressing through annoying and fun parts of gaming of past. And having such mechanics and rewards with short game length makes it a fun experience.

🌟 Total score: 7/10 🌟

Evoland 2:

PROs:

✅ More of a game now
✅ Plenty of different game genres showcased (side scroller, platformer, rpg
✅ Plenty of collectibles and secrets

CONs:

❌ A looooot of bugs (lot of situations where you can get stuck)
❌ Charm of first game is gone…. Feels too long
❌ Lot of backtracking
❌ Sense of progression and direction gets thrown off

Comments:

Most mentioned in pros and cons. But anyhow this time around game feels to long and dragging on with storytelling and extreme amount of backtracking. Whilst combat and level designs are improved and game offers plenty of collectibles. it also introduces tons of bugs. Had so many moments where I had to exit to main menu to reload from checkpoint because my character got stuck in map world or in levels for various reasons.

Anyhow.. progression was more of a typical rpg with rewards being lackluster. And game visual changes etc.. are all linked to story and it’s rewards rather than finding game mechanic/visual upgrades etc as rewards.

Nevertheless I enjoyed the game for the most part whilst having also plenty to complain about..

🌟 Total score: 6/10 🌟
